Our studio-wide Spring Recitals are in the month of April. All students are encouraged to participate in the Spring Recital by sharing one or two of their favorites with family and friends! Although we have many recitals during April, each student will participate on just one recital, which will be about 1 hour in length. Recitals are held at Cy-Fair Music & Arts in our Recital Hall.
Teachers are free to provide additional performance opportunities for their students as they wish. Many teachers will hold a fall recital, or a winter recital, or a studio class.
NW HOUSTON MUSIC TEACHER ASSOCIATION PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
FALL & SPRING FESTIVALS -students have several options for performance: Recital Artistry - a great low-pressure performance in front of a small audience. Excellent way to gain experience while providing pleasure for an appreciative audience. Critic's Corner - perform for a small audience PLUS a high-level adjudicator. Students will receive a written commentary on their performance, as well as a "RATING". Superior Plus ratings also earn a trophy. Master Class - Students receive a "live piano lesson" from a high-level piano instructor in front of an audience of peers, so that everyone can learn and benefit! NW HOUSTON MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION "PIANO CONTEST" Students prepare prescribed repertoire for their level and perform before a panel of judges. The 1st and 2nd place winners in each division get to perform on the evening concert.
TMTA ENSEMBLES Student ensembles numbering up to 45 students perform as a group at 15 pianos on the big stage at the Texas Music Teachers Convention in June. This is a HUGE event, and one of the few opportunities pianists have to learn to follow a conductor and be a part of a large ensemble!
