Art Teacher
Beth W.

I have been teaching art to children ever since I said “Yes” to an opportunity presented at a local Art association meeting in Plano, Texas. The opportunity was to work as an assistant art instructor at a children’s summer art camp back in 1993. Prior to this life-changing opportunity, I had been building my artistic skills through art school, painting lessons, art workshops and creating and showing my own artworks. After moving to Houston in 1994, I continued broadening my own artistic skills and began teaching art to children through community outreach art programs. I taught art in the elementary school classroom environment for several years; where I got to share the appreciation of the visual arts, teach about art history, and show the creative processes in art making with my students. As an artist I have received several awards in local and regional art shows in the Houston, Texas area. I continue to hone in on my own skills through painting and mixed medium forms to further my own personal artistic experiences and endeavors. My goal in teaching art is to encourage and guide my students to further their artistic skills, and to keep the creative spirit throughout life. My motto is – Creativity is necessary for a meaningful life.
