My name is Ashla R., and I am a native Houstonian. I have had the privilege of teaching piano for over a decade. My musical journey began at the age of eight, when my parents decided to place me in group piano lessons, and I am so happy they made that decision. As the years passed, my interest in music developed from a hobby to a passion. I attended Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas, and studied music education with a focus in piano. I received private piano instruction under the direction of Dr. Melissa Marse. Upon leaving Houston Baptist University, I began my professional piano teaching career. Teaching the next generation(s) the language of music or a new skill is enjoyment for me; there is nothing much better than seeing your students accomplish their musical goals. I want my students to enjoy music, use it as an outlet and not just an addition to a checklist. My goal is to find the most efficient method for each student, while simultaneously cultivating his or her own artistry. Along with teaching piano, I am a worship leader. I also play and sing for various events, produce and record music, and compose piano music.
