Teaching has always come naturally to me. I find every student I work with has talent in some way. They all work hard, and my motto is teamwork between me and the student. From an early age, I have studied music and the piano. I have earned a Master's in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Arkansas State University. I studied with Dr. Lauren Clark of Arkansas State University. I also received a Music Diploma ATCL from Trinity College London. I can speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Malay.
I have taught privately for 15 years in Malaysia and the United States. I accompanied singers and other musicians during my time obtaining my bachelor’s and Master’s. I performed Gamelan with my classmates during my undergrad program at an international conference (ISME) in Kuala Lumper, Malaysia. While I have been prominently trained in classical style, I have a versatile approach to performing and enjoy many different kinds of music.
I am well versed in music theory and music technologies. I have taught at Cy-Fair Music and Arts since 2014. My students have participated in music contests, recitals, exams, music festivals and ensembles. I have been able to successfully work with all age groups. I have worked with children with learning disabilities, which requires patience and understanding. I believe the love for music and the love for the piano begins with enjoying the lesson and having a good time learning from the teacher.
