ART TEACHER
JULIE S.

My love of art began in elementary school and has never stopped. I was fortunate to  have had an amazing art teacher when I was young who helped me discover new art materials and methods of creating. Throughout my youth, I continued learning and creating art and eventually studied art and design in college, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Later, I earned an all-level art teaching certificate and began teaching art in Texas public schools.

I have enjoyed teaching art for 10+ years to students of all ages, both young and old.  Helping others explore and discover new art materials is incredibly fun and rewarding.  Art making can be therapeutic and relaxing as well as challenging and thought provoking. Art encourages and develops self-expression, creative problem-solving and perseverance. I have taught drawing, painting, ceramics and printmaking with a variety of media, including graphite, chalk and oil pastels, colored pencils, tempera, acrylic, watercolor, ink, and clay. Watercolors are my favorite medium. I have recently been learning digital art and love this exciting way to create.

You can visit my website at juliesimsart.com to view some of my work. I look forward to creating art with current and future students. Armed with a desire to learn, a commitment to practice, do your best and be patient with yourself, your art journey is sure to be fun and rewarding! Hope to see you in class!
