EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

If you are a professional musician or visual artist skilled in teaching students of all ages--both online and face to face--we encourage you to submit a job application (CV and Cover Letter) by filling out the form on this page. But before you proceed, let us tell you a little more about what we are looking for in a candidate to help you decide whether or not we are a good fit.

WHAT ARE THE BASIC QUALITIES WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN A TEACHER?

1. Professional Qualifications

You have the professional qualifications necessary to perform your role at a high level. These typically include a degree in the arts or equivalent professional expertise.

2. Educational Philosophy: Matching Teaching Styles to Learning Styles

"DON'T LIMIT A CHILD TO YOUR OWN LEARNING, FOR HE [SHE] WAS BORN IN ANOTHER TIME."

This quote by Rabindranath Tagore, famous Indian poet, musician, and artist, captures one of our core educational beliefs: we don't use a cookie-cutter approach to teaching, but customize our teaching approach to the learning style of each individual student. Related to that, our administrative staff matches students with teachers who are a good fit based on their strengths and personality traits.

3. Other Important Qualities

  • You have the ability to function as an employee, rather than an independent contractor, in a professional work environment.
  • You are a team player. You don't have the desire to run your own show but are happy to follow institutional policies. All of these are designed to make your life easier, recruit new students to your lesson room/class room, and retain your students for as long as possible.
  • You are punctual. You show up for your lessons and classes on time--each time--and you finish on time.
  • You have good people skills. Providing feedback to students and communicating with parents is an important part of the job.
  • You take pride in helping students excel and make them a priority over your performing career. You perform because you love it, but work around the teaching schedule.
