Art Teacher
Michael W.

Michael was born in Conroe, of Hispanic and Cajun heritage brewed in the hill country. He grew up with fantasy novels, kung fu movies, and questionable riding skills on a sketchy BMX bike. He is a type I diabetic who worked construction and other odd jobs and with what little free time is left whilst drawing upon those experiences-- makes art. He received a BFA with a concentration drawing and a minor in printmaking from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 2007 and continues to draw, paint, and make relief prints.  He lives with his partner and two kids, cat in east Houston, and is fueled by tacos, barbecue, and Diet Dr. Pepper. He's excited to work with Cy Fair Music and Arts and teaching art to children and youth, and hopes that he inspires children in the arts, to find their voice, and to tell their own stories as the movies, books, teachers inspired him to do. He's a man of many hobbies, when not teaching or painting, he can be found riding motorcycles, spending too much money on comic books, arguing theory, or teaching himself woodworking.
