Citlaly is a passionate artist and art educator with over 10 years of experience of teaching across public, private and museum-affiliated programs. Graduating from the University of Houston with a bachelors in Sculpture and a minor in Art History, she explored and practiced with many different mediums. She brings both technical expertise and deep historical knowledge to her classes. Her teaching career spans teaching students from the age of 3 to 18, and she has designed and implemented comprehensive curricula at various institutions.
Her personal practice centers around ceramics, printmaking and mixed media, with interest in exploring a wide range of material processes. Her hands-on understanding of material processes informs her teaching, offering students real world insight into artistic exploration and craftsmanship.
Citlaly’s approach to teaching art is rooted with exploration, inclusivity and student voice. She believes in giving students hands-on experiences that foster both creative confidence and technical growth.
In addition to her classroom experience, Citlaly works with art institutions such as the Glassell Junior School of Art (Museum of Fine Arts, Houston), where she develops and teaches age appropriate curriculum. She also contributed insight as part of the Teacher Advisory Group for the Houston Contemporary Art Museum, where she supports the development of educational programming.
Through every role she takes on, she strives to make art education a meaningful and empowering experience for students and their communities.
