Benjamin S.

Benjamin S., originally from Venezuela, is a cellist trained in the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela. He began his musical studies at age 7. Since then, he has belonged to several local orchestras and participated in numerous concerts, recitals, and concerto competitions. In 2016, he began his studies at the Simon Bolivar Music Conservatory in Caracas, where his mentors were the Maestros Francy Vasquez and Juan J Romero. In 2017, he was part of the Chacao Youth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of maestro Ulyses Ascanio. In April of 2018, he immigrated to the United States. Courtenay Vandiver Pereira was his mentor during his high school career. Benjamin was part of the Mayde Creek High School orchestra, Symphony Orchestra in the Houston Youth Symphony, and Virtuosi of Houston. He has participated in the 2020, 2021, and 2022 International Cello Institute, the National Youth Orchestra 2021, and the Texas Music Festival 2022 and 2023. He has participated in numerous master classes most recently under Brinton Smith, Blaise Dejardin, Christopher French, Brannon Cho, and Maki Kubota. He attends the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston, studying Cello Performance under Dr. Eunghee Cho. Benjamin teaches cello privately in local high schools and middle schools following the teachings of all of his mentors.
