Jesse S.

Jesse S. is a Houston-based freelance cellist and private lesson instructor serving the Katy area. He brings years of teaching experience and has guided a diverse range of students toward musical excellence. Many of his students have gone on to pursue music professionally at esteemed institutions such as the University of North Texas and Baylor University.

As a soloist, Mr. S. is passionate about performance and has appeared as a featured soloist with members of the Baylor Symphony Orchestra, performing Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D Major under the baton of friend and colleague Stephan Gomez.

He is also a dedicated chamber musician, having collaborated with fellow artists on works by composers such as Beethoven, Vaughan Williams, and Schumann, as well as lesser-known voices like Gustavo Navarre. He was honored to premiere Sweeping Tides, a contemporary jazz-inspired piece by composer Jacob Bowman. His chamber experience spans a wide range of ensemble settings, including string quartets, piano trios, quartets, and quintets. In 2023, Jesse, along with his two colleagues were winners of the Semper Pro Musica Chamber Music Competition at Baylor University as the Brazos Trio.

Mr. S. earned his Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Sam Houston State University, where he studied under Dr. Daniel Saenz. He holds a Master of Music in Cello Performance from Baylor University, where he studied with Dr. Philip Borter.

Outside of music, Jesse enjoys working out, spending time with friends and family, attending car shows, and exploring his interest in automobiles and other creative pursuits.
