Joel G.

Joel G. is a performing percussionist and teacher from Monterrey, Mexico. Joel started playing drums at an early age, inspired by a family member who performed in a church in the Houston area. In addition to Latin grooves such as Cumbia, Soca, Reggeaton, Bosa Nova and Songo, Joel is also inspired by rock and progressive metal bands such as Coheed and Cambria and Alexis On Fire. Joel has performed and toured with his bands, deSANGRE and Naked Content in the United States, Caribbean Islands and Mexico. On these tours Joel had the opportunity to open for national bands such as Sammy Hagar, Trapt, Papa Roach, Hoobastank, Café Tacuba, Fobia, Enanitos Verdes and others. Joel took lessons from Marcie Chapa in Houston TX, who taught him how to compose percussion music. Marcie Chapa was the Latin percussionist in the all female band for Beyoncé Knowles. 

Joel enjoys teaching beginner to advanced students to play Rock, Pop, Ska, Reggae, Latin grooves, metal and funk music. He is excited to share his knowledge of music with his students.
