Mario S.
Mario S., a native Houston, TX resident, is currently a teacher and enjoys to perform. As a child, Mario always had an interest in music. This led to him learning piano, and eventually becoming involved in the percussion world by middle school. Mario grew his love and talent for drumming during highschool, where he first experienced marching band and indoor percussion, on a scholastic world class level.
After graduating high school in 2018, Mario has continuously taught as a private lesson teacher and a drum technician. During his time at Blinn College, Mario studied under Dr. Sarah Burke and Tom Quinlan. He performed in with the wind ensemble and percussion ensembles. Mario also attended the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB), where he studied under Dr. Tim Feerst and participated in multiple ensembles.
Mario has experience with both marching band and indoor percussion. Mario performed with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps, during 2021-2022. During this time, Mario learned core leadership ideas and became a section leader. In 2023, Mario also performed with Music City Mystique. After aging out of both DCI and WGI, Mario returned home to become the percussion director at North Shore Senior High School. Mario also has two years experience with teaching at the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps.
Over time, Mario has grown and continues to grow into the musician and teacher he aspires to be. Mario believes that dedicating time to perfect your craft and apply your skills, is one of the most rewarding things you could do. He strives to make every player that he teaches, proud of the work they put in.
