Guitar Teacher
Ty K.

Ty K. is a guitarist, composer, and teacher. He holds a Master of Music degree in Music Theory from New England Conservatory of Music (2019), and a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory and Composition from University of Louisiana at Lafayette (2016).

Ty has taught music for the past 15 years and is currently on faculty at Lone Star College CyFair, teaching Guitar, Music Theory, and Composition. He has taught students of all ages and his passion for music is equally matched by his passion for education.

As a guitarist, Ty is fluent in many styles derived from the rock, classical, and jazz languages. He has most recently performed in the Guitar Extravaganza in Naxos, Greece and in Henrique Eisenmann's Brazilian Ensemble. His solo electric guitar work, panic, was released by Liburia Records in 2020.

As a composer, Ty's music has been recently performed in Berklee Performance Center, Jordan Hall, and Athens, Greece.

His chamber opera, worry, was commissioned in 2019 by Due Donne Productions and is set to premiere in Boston, MA in Summer 2021. His guitar duet, Poseidon and Amphitrite, was featured at the 2019 Palaio Faliro Guitar Festival in Athens, Greece and was performed by renowned guitar duo Alexandra Christomidou and Yannis Petridis.
