Cicely "Barbie" P.
Cicely “Barbie” P., is an accomplished musician and has been teaching piano for over twenty years. Several of her early accomplishments include winning second place at the AMSA World Piano Competition, which allowed her to perform at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall; winning first place at the Baylor Piano Competition; performing several times with the Austin Civic orchestra, and many more. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln under a full music scholarship. There she studied under Dr. Paul Barnes and Dr. Nicole Narboni and later received her Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in Business. From Nebraska, Cicely moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she was awarded the Graduate Teaching Assistantship at Missouri State University under the tutelage of Dr. Peter Collins where she received her Master’s in Music. Other teachers have included Dr. Carolyn True, Logan Skelton, Alvin Chow, Timothy Ehlen, Mark Clinton, William Heiles, Ian Hobson, and Krassimira Jordan. Throughout her career, she has performed in many solo recitals, chamber music groups, piano ensembles and accompanied various instrumentalists, not only here in the U.S., but in Austria and the Czech Republic. Cicely brings to her students a wealth of knowledge by instilling a love for learning and enjoying music.
