Native of Cuba, began her career as a member of the Holguin Symphony Orchestra, Cuba (2009), Assistant Concertmaster from 2013 to 2022 and then appointed Concertmaster from 2022to 2024. She also was a member of Holguin Chamber Music Orchestra (Cuba) from 2008 to 2024.
Katia is a 2008 honor graduate of the Professional Conservatoire of Music, Jose María Ochoa, Holguin, Cuba. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Artistic Education from the University of Holguin, Cuba. She appeared as soloist in 2020 with the Holguin Chamber Orchestra performing the Johann Sebastian Bach, Double Violin Concerto in D minor BWV 1043. Katia has collaborated with the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, Santiago de Cuba among others. She has worked under the direction of Maestro Enrique Pérez Mesa, Iván del Prado, Guido López Gavilán, López Marín, Roberto Valera; European conductors like Walter Themel (Italy), Gregorio Gutierrez (Spain) and Adrian Sylveen (Poland) and renowned Cuban pianists such as Frank Fernández, Aldo López Gavilán and Ramon Valle. Katia has also participated in numerous Music Festivals in Havana, Holguin and Bayamo, Cuba.
Katia believes that teaching music is a powerful tool for expression, creativity and enjoyment for everyone, no matter the age. When she is not teaching or playing, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She likes the beach, doing yoga and cooking.
